Tetra-Brazil Soccer Camps Coming to Elk Grove

Don’t Miss the Fun this Summer

This summer, the Elk Grove Soccer League and it competitive program FC Elk Grove will team up with coaches from Tetra-Brazil to share their knowledge of the game of soccer with our local youth players and coaches.

Tetra-Brazil coaches are recruited and trained in Brazil, and their summer camp programs help US players learn the same footwork, skills, and moves that have helped Brazil win five WorldCups – more than any other country!

Tetra-Brazil, based out of Rio De Janeiro is now a part of Challenger Sports, the largest youth coaching organization in the country. Tetra Brazil has been providing their unique Brazilian style coaching to individual players and teams in the US for over 10 years.

The cost of the camp is a reasonable $120 per week for players. If a sibling also registers, they pay only $110.   (We also have additional camp weeks for our recreational friends.  Go toelkgrove-soccer.com for those details.)

Posted March 28, 2013

Congratulations to Coach Peter Ochoa's FC Elk Grove 97G (U16) for winning the NorCal National Premier League (NPL), in the State Premier 1 Division. 18 games were played over the course of 6 months. The girls won 13 games and tied 5, going undefeated. Ultimately they scored 42 goals, and gave up 19. The girls saw major roster changes through this time-frame, but stuck together and saw a winning season. For the team to clinch first place they had to win both games the final weekend at NorCal's National Premier League tournament. The girls beat Santa Clara Sporting, which is one of the top teams in northern California, 2-0. Then they were able to get by Castro Valley on Sunday with a 2-0 win. "I give a lot of credit to the girls who have amazing work rate. They have what our club stands for, Pride and Passion" said Coach Peter Ochoa.

Elk Grove City Council Approves Plans For Soccer Stadium
Posted March 14, 2013

The Elk Grove City Council on Wednesday evening voted unanimously to move forward with plans for a $100 million soccer stadium to attract a professional team to the city. Many FC Elk Grove players and parents attended the meeting in support of building the stadium.

The proposed stadium would be on 120 acres, along Highway 99 at Grant Line and Kammerer roads.

The city is also considering spending an estimated $12 million for 12 soccer fields.

On behalf of the Elk Grove Youth Soccer League and FC Elk Grove Leadership, we want to thank all of you for your amazing demonstration of support last night. Your presence truly made the difference in the outcome of the vote by the City Council to support moving forward with the multi-field soccer complex and professional stadium.  The time that you took out of your evening to come to the council meeting with your children was such a wonderful display of "pride and passion" in our soccer community, and, more particularly, our soccer organization.  The Mayor, Council Members, and City Manager asked that we extend to you their gratitude as well as their awe and amazement that we have such a strong bond in the League and FC Elk Grove.  They have seen nothing like this.
It's an exciting time in Elk Grove.  We will continue to keep you posted on the work of the Elk Grove city staff as they begin the journey to find land for the soccer complex.  It will be EGYSL's priority to push the multi-field soccer complex so that our children will benefit in the near future.  Thank you again.

FC Elk Grove has four teams playing in this weekend’s finals, more than any other club in Northern California:

 ·         FC Elk Grove 96 Girls Orange (U16) is playing the Stanford (Palo Alto) Typhoons in the President’s Cup Final on Saturday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at BSP #3.

FC Elk Grove has already taken home state championships in the U12 and U11 girls divisions, and Association Cup Championships in U9 and U14 boys divisions and the U13 girls division.

In addition to state success, FC Elk Grove is making a mark internationally. A team of seven under 16 FC Elk Grove girls won the national Adidas UEFA Young Champions title in Portland, Ore. on April 15 and will represent the United States at the world finals of the 5v5 UEFA Young Champions tournament in Munich, Germany. FC Elk Grove’s team will travel to Germany May 14-20 to compete against European finalists, train at Bayern Munich’s world-class soccer facilities and attend the men’s and women’s Champions League finals.

Stephanie Cox Hosts FC Elk Grove Clinic
Posted December 22, 2011

U.S. Women’s National team member Stephanie Cox spent time before the holidays with FC Elk Grove, running a clinic for 50 or so excited girls players from her home town.

Cox, a veteran National Team member with 77 caps, was hand-on with the FC Elk Grove players, participating in the training and small-sided games and sharing tips and technical advice.

In addition to leading the training, Stephanie conducted a Q&A with the players and talked about the importance of grades and a well-rounded athletic experience.  Stephanie was a 4.17 student at Elk Grove High School and played both basketball and volleyball as she followed her soccer dreams.

FC Elk Grove and all the players in attendance thank Stephanie for being a great example and for her willingness to give back to her soccer community.

EGYSL President Debra Carlton Appointed
Posted August 19, 2011

California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) has announced the appointment of Debra Carlton as the local Chair for the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup event. This event, the culminating event for US Youth Soccer teams who have participated in the state and regional level of the Presidents Cup, was awarded to CYSA last May by the US Youth Soccer Association. The event will take place July 11-15 at the Cherry Island Soccer Complex in Sacramento.

CYSA Chairman Pete Zopfi commented, "Debra's organizational abilities and strong leadership skills will allow CYSA to provide an excellent experience to the US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup competition in July 2012. As these top-level teams from around the United States come to visit Northern California and the Sacramento area for the first time, they will be greeted with a professional atmosphere created by Debra and her team of CYSA volunteers and staff."

With an eye for detail and organization, Debra brings a combination of business savvy and soccer knowledge to her new appointment. Debra currently volunteers as the President of the Elk Grove Youth Soccer League (EGYSL), one of the largest affiliate leagues within CYSA, and works for the California Apartment Association as Senior Vice President of Public Affairs. In addition to serving as EGYSL President, she has eight years of coaching experience and holds a CYSA “D” License.

FC Elk Grove Players Excel At District VI ODP Tryouts
Posted August 03, 2011

In its first year FC Elk Grove, led by Director of Coaching Cesar Plasencia and his exceptional program curriculum, has swamped the ODP Acceptance list for State Tryouts. FC Elk Grove offers its players intense training (up to 5 times a week) and outstanding coaching staff filled with the most highly respected coaches in Northern California.

The list contains over 36 FC players that have made the next round of tryouts for ODP. The players, along with their coaches, have all worked hard this season to develop and hone their skills and talent. At the District VI ODP tryouts, their hard work has been recognized and rewarded.

All of FC Elk Grove would like to congratulate these players and their families and wish them continued success in the step on this journey!
